Hi there- so what I had done was a rectopexy with sigmoid colon resection in September, and sacrololpopexy with hysterectomy (keeping ovaries intact) and a rectocele repair. Several months in I can say that I no longer leak which is so amazing I could kiss my underwear every day- no joke. That being said, part of the problem was constipation, so I still get constipated, the external rectocele is no longer there, but the internal one is still there, or returned, I’m not sure which. My colorectal surgeon wants to do another procedure to strength. My pelvic floor, which is very weak, but I’m not inclined to do that. Instead, I’m working hard with my pelvic floor specialist, who’s helped with a little post-op bladder spillage- when I would get up or sit down- all cured now, and very normal- and with pelvic floor levels, distinguishing between front and back level sensing. I still have to use half a ducolax now and then, or a bit of a suppository, and then need a squatty potty and then also need to splint to get the poop out. And I’m still healing, so I think it will get better. I’m sure everyone’s experience is different, but I’m happy I did the procedures, and recognize that no surgery is a panacea and post op pelvic floor efforts are essential. Best of luck!
