@kayraymat There is a book I read called, "Proof of Heaven" by Dr. Eben Alexander. He is a neurosurgeon that died. He was actually brain dead. It is a great book. Also, Raymond Moody has studied near death experiences for decades. I understand what you are going through and I understand what I believe as "magical thinking" in a different way. "Magical Thinking," as I understand it through psychology is more like when I wore a specific t-shirt to ball games and only wore that t-shirt for fear that my team would lose the ball game if I did not wear it. It is almost like superstition. I do that and I am aware that I do that, however, belief in a consciousness that is not the mind/brain is something entirely different. I have listened to and read and studied people that talk about near death experiences, as well as doctors and others that talk about death. There is one thing that I have actually witnessed, when my father died, that is universal in people that are dying. They say they "want to go home." I remember asking my father where home was and listed all the places he had lived. The "home" he was talking about was not on this planet. I will look around for some more books, etc., that I think would be helpful. I KNOW in my being that there is something after we leave these bodies. I believe that most people, have a knowing as well, whether they choose to look at it or believe it is their choice. I also encourage you to listen to physicists and quantum physicists, astronomers, and others discussing the Universe. I find it peaceful due to several things. One, we, as humans do know some things about how the Universe works, two what we do know is minimal and the Universe, scientists, etc., if you think about how infinite the Universe is, really don't know a lot and three, there is so much we do not know about consciousness and the brain. I also suggest reading Eckhart Tolle. "The Power of Now," and "A New Earth," are both great books.

I know what magical thinking really is but that is my own version/definition.
Thank you for the book suggestions. I finally googled my question & wrote down "Proof of Heaven," but the others are new to me...so thank you again.
I did want to read an M.D.'s version & a scientist's version.
