I was doing ok - as we never made a big deal about Valentines Day.....then I went to Publix to pick up some fresh fruit, and it was full of men buying flowers, cards, candy, balloons, wine .....and I felt a deep, deep longing to just hear my sweet, funny, strong hubby say ANYTHING affectionate or special....or even a knowing smile.....or a cute wink....but, as always, I stuffed those desires and feelings on top of the other "put away" feelings so as not to have tears in a public place....once again the unwanted emotional game of feelings sneaking up when least expected....and I survived another round. How long will my heart hold on until the emotions become an unstoppable torrential flood?
Grateful to be able to write these words...hugs to all.

@teacher502 I'm so sorry you felt sad on Valentine's Day in Publix market. I'm sure that was hard for you and especially when your husband no longer says the sweet things or gestures he used to say and do; possibly because for whatever reason he can't do those things anymore. Be glad for the good times when all that you explained happened! Also be glad that he is still with you physically. Hug him, kiss him and tell him you love him! My husband died in 2024 and I would give anything just to have him with me even if he is silent and non responsive. I miss him terribly. I know he's up in Heaven and we'll be together eventually in God's time but it's very lonely until then. Prayer helps. God is always there for us. I'll say a prayer for you.
I wish you the best.
