OK, I finally have an update. As mentioned, the Urolift failed after about 3 years, and the Rezum only lasted 1.5 years. This is my third urologist and procedure, AND it was rescheduled three times - DEC I had a really bad chest cold (not a good idea to go under), JAN was cancelled due to the huge snow storm on the east coast, BUT Friday FEB 6th, I got the Greenlight so hopefully third times the charm!. I could not wait as my peeing got even worse (like slow dribbling, forcing my pelvis to empty). The Dr wasn't sure if it would include TURP if he couldn't totally remove the Urolift staples. So happy he did remove them, as TURP can have more complications, risks and a longer recovery time. The Dr gave me an antibiotic in the OR so there was no need to fill a prescription.

It has only been 4 days later, and the fact that it was done on a Friday, there was NO WAY I was going to keep the catherter in for so long (this time seemed to be more painful than in the past). I watched a video and removed it myself without incident. What a relief! It is too early to tell, but so far I feel a little better - still a slow stream, but not at all like those baby tinkle squirts! There was a little blood, especially at the tip where the catherter was inserted, but I continuely had to empty the urine bag (it was clear yellow, no blood), so I must have been holding so much water all this time. The burning is subsiding by each day, and my follow up in 6 weeks will reveal the true final (?) results, which I will then give an update. I hope I get at least 10yrs before a repeat ,and I also hope this will improve my stubborn constipation.

Good luck to all of you.

@danilo1m

I had TURP about 15 years ago
I had green light in 2024 and am peeing like like a 30yo
I also had catheter for 30 days waiting for green light appt …miserable
I’m 81
GOOD LUCK NB

@danilo1m update. Now 4 weeks out. Still a little burning when first peeing (subsides seconds later), but the flow is beginning to get stronger. Hopefully, by my 8-week follow-up, I will see better/final results.

One odd thing I noticed. I urinate to the right! I read that perhaps since my catheter was tied to my right thigh, it could have stressed the urethra. I am hoping it is not permanent damage and it will straighten in time.
