@nathan1124 - I wanted to let you know I moved your post here to this existing discussion:

Although we can't give medical advice in this patient community, I think that others may have some thoughts for you from their own experiences. Hoping that here you can connect with others who are talking about some of the same symptoms you've mentioned, including unexplained weight loss @mikey1oregon @tuckerdoodle @graceym1. I'd also love for you to meet @jlharsh.

@lisalucier thank you and hopefully someone will reach out to me with some feedback that is useful to me because I'm starting to feel helpless

Thank you for the tag, @lisalucier. It is nice to meet you, @nathan1124.

You have been having a difficult time with your health this past year and from what you have written it sounds like you are not sure what to do to get better. I am glad you found Connect!

I think I have lost about 60 pounds. I started out trying to loose weight and by the time I hit the number I wanted to be at I was thinking it had been super easy to do. I kept losing then realized my efforts really weren’t that successful, I had been losing unintentionally for some time. Like you, I went to the ER because of pain in my upper abdomen only to be sent home. My solution was to not eat until the pain subsided. I eventually figured out I had to eat and started blending my food, which seemed to take the edge off the pain at least.

I can tell you what I did that finally provided some initial relief. I made a commitment to eat no fat for 30 days. I felt better in three days. From there I told my primary care doctor and have been improving from that decision ever since. It has taken following my doctor’s advice and intentionally creating habits that build on each other.

You mention losing weight and also not eating because your pain has been so bad. Do you think you are losing weight because of something that it wrong with your body, or do you think it is because you aren’t eating enough? Also, do you have a primary care doctor to help you navigate, or one of the GI docs you’ve seen perhaps?
