C1 fracture healing and prognosis?

@jayreale no both lateral masses of C1 displaced outwards, neither the anterior or posterior fracture forming a stable fibrous union (scar tissue). They were able significantly reduce the fracture, but the anterior is still about 5mm apart. The hope is that with the bone graft on the posterior fracture a normal bony union will now form. They aren’t able to get to the anterior fracture line from the posterior incision they would have to go through the mouth which I would like to avoid due to the potential complications & they didn’t feel indicated. The anterior fracture should eventually form a stable fibrous union. Unfortunately, my initial fracture just didn’t stabilize & must have had transverse ligament insufficiency despite initial imaging looking ok. Feeling very hopeful about the future prognosis now that it’s stabilized

@jnj59 Got it. Hope it works out! My fractures are on the tuburcles (in the center) on both anterior and posterior. We'll see how my progress is on Friday at my next doc visit. Today is 13 weeks since my accident.

Here's my CT from January 12th.
