I had PMR for several months before developing GCA. The PMR was primarily stiffness in the shoulders, neck, and hips. For GCA, I had low grade fever, night sweats, pain the cheekbones, tenderness in my scalp around my ears and on top of my head, fatigue in my jaw muscles when I was chewing, and eventually an episode of temporary partial vision loss in one eye. I went to the emergency room for the loss of vision, and I was diagnosed with GCA and PMR. I started treatment then and it saved my vision. All of the other symptoms of PMR and GCA also cleared up once I started treatment.
