I had undetected parathyroid disease for as far as I can trace at least 5-6 years. The Dr failed to recognize the hallmark symptoms. Was not discovered until he left and a female physician took over my case and picked up the lab discrepancies within 10 minutes. Long story short, had a parathyroidectomy done at Norman Clinic in Tampa - the only place to go! Now I am left with severe osteoporosis in my right hip of which I will not take medication for, kidney stones, CKD at stage 3 but am very stable. I take no new medication without checking with the nephrologist and my renal panel numbers are stable. Duke, by the way has got to be the mecca for disease management. I had Zyphyr valves for COPD inserted there. The are fantastic and would return if I needed any additional medical attention that I feel the small southern town I live in is not equipped to manage!

I was pleased with my surgery of a parathyroid at Norman Clinic in Tampa. It was arranged well and I received information about overnight stay in hotel because I lived elsewhere.

I too had surgery removal of 2 parathyroid glands at Norman Clinic. Very pleased with results, but years later had a kidney removed due to cancer and was stage 4 ckd. Now I am 3b and my nephrologist retired. I live in central Florida. I am searching for a new nephrologist and concerned about diet advice. Trying to obtain a good source of plain foods good for ckd. I can make my own recipes. Any suggestions? maylbee
