New Daily Persistent Headache
I was just recently diagnosed with probable ndph, tension type. I have constant pressure that feels as though I have something inside my brain pressing outward. I’m curious if anyone else has had this. I’ve had a chronic headache (which feels more like brain pressure) since September. It sometimes feels sinus like, sometimes behind my left eye, and sometimes just all over (like my entire brain)
CT Was clear, they ordered MRI, MRA and MRV. Bloodwork was completely normal. No signs of infections.
I was prescribed a 5 day, “bridge treatment” that is a steroid. If it is unsuccessful I will need to take a daily medication for prevention.
What helps you? Heat? Ice? I need relief. I’ve tried chiropractors, dry needling, migraine medications..

6 yrs/6 mos with my headache/dizziness, all day, every day. Docs cannot figure it out. It has ruined my life. I am sorry for all who have to deal with this.
I’ve been having the same issue lately! I wake up with a splitting headache every day that somewhat reminds me of when I have a bad sinus infection, but also the headaches I get when my BP is too high. BP is good and I don’t have a sinus infection. I haven’t added any new meds. When my husband and I were still together he would put one hand across my forehead and one across the back of my head and press inward (he has huge hands & was strong) and the combination of warmth and contoured pressure made my sinus headache pain disappear completely, but only as long as he could do it. I’ve often wanted to invent something that would do the same thing but not get tired! LOL
I’m sorry to hear of your having headaches I had migraines for 45 years before I found a cure for mine. I ended up having surgery for a deviated septum. A very simple surgery and my migraines were gone. A deviated septum cuts down breathing on one side. When opened you will breathe normally and can take the migraines away. A simple test is hold one side of nose draw in a breath on other side than hold other side of nose and blow out that should open nose and make you feel better. I finally found an ear nose doctor that helped me Give it a try.

Margaret, my headache, which will be 12 years old in June , was once diagnosed as "New Daily Headache", but currently as "Chronic Migraine" sounds somewhat like yours, especially in that pressure gives me relief also. Years ago we were taking an overnight train trip to New Orleans and took along some masks (like the lone ranger but with no eyeholes) to help us sleep. it was my best night's sleep in years. Now i wear a sweat band for nearly 24 hours a day. The gentle pressure seems to confuse my pain receptors and thereby give me some-hard-to-find relief. If you find that applying pressure around your temples, your eyes, your nose and your scalp, try applying pressure with an object. There was a time i discovered that i could fall asleep better if i used my fingers of one hand to apply pressure to both sides of the bridge of my nose and a spot between my eyes. Now I use a wooden stick that i "invented" in my workshop. I keep one in the car and i have others that help me fall asleep at night, I hope some of these ideas provide you with some relief.

1 Reaction@wbc wow-I have only had mine for about a month! I think having it on top of my other health problems (Hashimoto’s, narcolepsy, and fibromyalgia) just makes it feel worse than it is? I did buy a rechargeable face mask with a hard molded outer plastic mask and soft inside mask that had heat, massage, and Bluetooth options. It was delightful and almost always got rid of my pain. Sadly it died and I’m trying to avoid patronizing Amazon, and have yet to find one locally.☹️. The stick and bandana is a great idea-I’m definitely going to try it, thank you! I’m not sure if this would help with your pain, since your headaches don’t sound like straightforward migraines, but I suffered from migraines until October 2020 when I had a daith piercing done. If you aren’t familiar with this, it’s a fast, simple piercing that has an amazing cure rate for migraines. I haven’t had one since I had it done, and I personally know several others who have had the same results. It may be worth trying, especially after suffering for 12 years with the pain you have! I tell people if it doesn’t work you can either take it out (it grows back over just like a regular earring) or leave it in if you like the way it looks (I do). I believe it’s based on ancient pressure points or something similar (my memory is also hit or miss these days but when I read up on it it sounded like there was a lot of information validating it’s success). I have a simple gold ring like in the one photo but want a fancier one like in the other. I will keep you posted on my progress-I’m hoping your advice helps. You’ve already given me more information and helpful tips than any of my doctors!😊
@margaret69 Another thing i forgot to mention: you should try - maybe you have already? - a "migraine cap" that you keep in the freezer. I have 4 of them from Amazon and the relief is about immediate. Sadly the relief only lasts as long as the cap is cold. But the quick relief is amazing. My daughter had a brain aneurysm surgically removed and i bought 2 for her which she found amazing. She wished she'd had them sooner. I hope you can let me know which of my recommendations work for you.
