Please share success with diet, exercise and footwear.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this group. I was recently diagnosed with hereditary idiopathic nueropathy. I'm 58 and became concerned when I was brushing my hair one day and felt a sudden rush of heat and tingling in both arms. I also had a real bad unexplained pain in one foot while walking. After multiple tests I finally got the answer. I'm currently on Gabapentin. Pain has improved in my arms, but the foot pain seems to have gotten worse. After being on my feet all day at work, I find the pain gets worse. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with special footwear, exercise and diet. If so, would you please share what you're doing? Please. Prayers to all suffering with this.

Hi, I have had neuropathy for about 10 years. Mostly in my feet. About seven years ago I went gluten free.
It was a game changer, I felt so much better! I avoid sugar also and limit salt. Exercise helps a lot. I walk in
cool weather and swim in the warm weather. I have learned to live with some pain.
Keep trying different things and supplements until you find what works best for you. It takes two weeks off
gluten and sugar to really feel the benefit. Don't give up, what works for one person often does not work for
another. We all respond differently to different therapies. I wish you the best.

@osseo63 Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I feel hopeful about the future, which is my biggest worry. I don't want to become someone else's burden. Thanks again.

This month I have added massager therapy to my legs and feet and chiropractic work on neck and back. I also am using a massage gun made by TOLOCO. My foot pain turns on and off at different times, so I am trying to find a consistent treatment to prevent the foot pain at night as I try and go to sleep. Stats are age 70, male, overweight,
Using pregabalin 200 mg capsule 3 times a day. Using generic Semaglutide ( GLP-1). I walk the pup most days and visit the gym for standard workout. I am on a modified diet for portion size with plenty of vegetables. I did not have luck with accupuncatue. Right knee was replaced and I may need to get left knee repaired. I have had leg nerve study/test done and I just had another ultrasound done blood flow in both legs. I wear compression socks for Mild Edema and inspect legs and ankles twice per day. I do occasionally use red light therapy on feet and legs for Edema and Neuropathy. I also have leg cuffs with air pump to reduce leg swelling if it is a bad day. I do use CPAP at night with supplemental oxygen for mild sleep apnea. I have been honest about my issues and I am a active listener, look forward to advice from the group.
