Excessive Mucus with Esophageal Cancer
Does anyone suffer from excessive mucus after eating or drinking. I was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer one year ago. I started off with chemo, which did nothing and was switched to Keytruda every 3 weeks which has worked wonders. I am still stage 4 though. I was told that what I have is treatable, but not curable. I guess I can live with that. I have this excessive amount of mucus when I eat or drink. Does anyone else have this, and if you do, how do you deal with it?

Good luck to your brother. Hope all goes well with the surgery. Difficult times for the first few weeks but the body will adjust and he’ll learn how to eat a little differently etc. Each person’s possible complications or after effects of the surgery are so different. My husband had a bad wound infection weeks afterwards and some lung fluid which took time to go away ( is that what people meant by the mucus? Not sure). However all that was temporary. It’s important for him to keep active and try to get up and walk around as soon after the op as they say is possible. Build up small steps each day. Another thing is some people do get depressed in the weeks and months afterwards and that can be problematic for the immune system and motivation ( eating, exercise etc). So keep an eye on that and discuss with the doctor if it happens. My husband’s life now is completely normal and he’s happy, active and working full time since Spring 2024. I feel so grateful and blessed now but I was very scared then so know what you’re going through. Praying all goes well for you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

1 Reaction@ajax2026 I started doing yoga a year and a half ago too! I’ve found it really helpful (for me… husband refuses but that’s fine). Breathing techniques and yoga…
@lkovler hello i'm leaving tomorrow for montreal to be there for the surgery and help my sister in law. He's 69, a tall strong guy, retired pilot. he's had prostate cancer since 2012 but it was well managed, you know... its almost like i thought having one cancer protected you from having another, that he couldnt possibly have another type🤦♀️i'm off to do the yoga. have a great day 🌻
