Cold Therapy to prevent neuropathy

I used cryotherapy throughout my 8 rounds of chemo. I did the cold therapy only while receiving oxaliplatin. It was not easy to do this but I felt it was a short term discomfort to diminish a long term possibility of neuropathy. After chemo #4 I started to use light gloves and socks while wearing the mitts and socks. After chemo #6 I started to wear the cold packs for 15 minutes and take a 5 minute break. I had two sets of packs. Half way through I’d use the second set. My oncology naturopath and nutritionist had me start Vit B6 and lions mane as supplements after round #6. I wish I had known about this earlier. I stopped the Vit B6 when my chemo ended.
I had cold sensitivity in my hands between treatments starting after round #4. It progressively increased. I had some numbing and pain in my hands. I had 8 rounds of chemo. After two weeks of no chemo the cold sensitivity was better. I am 5 weeks out now and have no signs of neuropathy-no cold sensitivity. I believe the cryotherapy helped!!

Thank you for the response. Thats awesome you dont have lasting symptoms.
Did you have surgery as well?
My husband just did his first chemo yesterday and felt like crap. Today he just wants to sleep. He is barely eating/drinking. I made him a small plate and he took 2 bites and that was it. Im so worried about him.

Congrats on no neuropathy! What type of chemo were you getting? I was wearing my mittens and gloves but with no socks or gloves underneath. What a novel idea! How much B6 did you take and what the heck is lions mane??? I was on aggressive gem-abraxane wearing Suze's mitten and booties and got neuropathy to hands and feet in the 5th month of treatment really bad I
Might add, I'm off treatment now to give my system a rest .
