Meningioma: Anyone else? I'm frightened
I just found out I have a Meningioma tumor from a MRI I had for something else. Doctor said they are almost always benign and am going to get an appointment with a neurologist. Anyone else have one of these. I’m getting very frightened now.

@piperleah its so hard for our loved ones to really understand till they are lying in a uncomfortable sofa, couch, bed hard as a rock thing taking turns watching over you every night and taking shifts as to whos up next. they need to watch some videos now so if and when the time comes they dont shy away or cant handle things as they are meant to do. i was lucky first go around and it was costly on family, taxed their life styles and energy and so much more, my best advice is get connected in prayer chains and group prayer chains , they really work. I'm sending you a prayer now and good vibes-------------sent. have a blessed evening

and the like it was helpful for my mood today. you made it better, have a
blessed day.
@jackie2k they made me a mask that went over chest and head. can be a little scary at first if you need one that is.. best if you relax and they will help you get through it easier , some great techs. as to after effects i had a pretty big tumor and had to have the radiation twice. didn't lose any hair. that was the plus. just ask any specialist or nurse and there are hundreds of people here to lend support. have a blessed day. i have not really had any un-natural symptoms. sorry not much help. have a blessed day today.
@randallshields56 I’m not sure but I have to get 5 sessions ugh!

1 ReactionI had meningioma surgery in May of 2024. It was located next to my brain stem and inter ear. I saw both before and after mri’s.
I was in ICU for 3 days then a room for 2 days. I could not go home until I had a MRI. They shaved my hair but it was the under hair. You never could tell I had surgery. I was placed on my right side because my tumor was on the left. My head was placed in a vise and a tube inserted down throat. They did a vertical incision to remove the tumor. It was the size of my thumb from my nail to first knuckle. My neurosurgeon said he removed a piece of skull. I had asked him not to loose it. He put 4 tiny screws and lots of glue when he was finished. He stopped in to see me everyday. Food was very bland in hospital that was ok because I really was not hungry. Before surgery I had to walk with a cane because I felt off balance. Not dizzy. The cane helped me walk in a straight line. That was why they requested a MRI and discovered the tumor. I still walk with a cane if I walk for any distance. Around home I do not need it. I coughed a lot after surgery especially when trying to eat. But that could have been just me and not a complication from the surgery. I go tomorrow for a MRI. I wish you well for your upcoming surgery.
