@klsteffes I am fused T9-my sacroiliac with wires to my pelvis. T7-8 and T8-9 are now an issue, and the surgeon, if I decide to go forward, would fuse from T4 (not sure if he has to redo at this time). I am concerned with personal restrictions - what will I be able to do/not do? TIA!

Dear Eric,
I’ve had (5) fusions due to scoliosis & 20 years active duty. I’m now fused from Pelvis to T2. My only restrictions are that I don’t really bend. I’m also uber careful for any activity that could make me fall. As far as back pain, I don’t have any. I highly recommend using a neurosurgeon! Hardware has advanced to cobalt chrome which is customized. Hr also was able to put much of the natural curve back in my spine. I suffer from arachnoditis from all the surgeries. That’s a whole different story. I wish you the best!

@eric4727 I am pretty much able to do everything I did before my surgery, just a little different. I'm walking, cycling, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, hiking.....Obviously, I can't bend, so if I fall, I sometimes need help getting up (especially skiing). Some things are more difficult like tying shoes. It was a challenging road, but I'm glad I did it. I hope this helps.
