Been on Orgovyx for 6 months; have another 12 months ahead of me, if not 18 months.

What have you done for hot flashes?

Sugar free popsicles. (Yep, really) I prefer the tropical flavors.

I no longer wear sweaters or full hoodies (use zippered ones). For me, its just about being able to get to t-shirt level, easily and fast, and then it's fine. I see a lot of comments about hot flashes, and everyone is certainly different, but I don't find them to be that big a deal tbh. Just gotta wear layers (like skiing, hiking, etc).

When I get a hot flash, I go to the fridge where I keep a bag of frozen peas, slap it on my head and neck, and the hot flash is gone in 15 seconds.

I was getting a depo-Provera shots Every three months For about four years. It’s almost completely stopped hot flashes while on ADT. Other hormone treatments also work like Estradiol. Ask your doctor about this.

Some people say that daily tofu worked for them. It has a hormone in it actually. Black cohosh worked for some people. Acupuncture worked for others.

I have an embrlabs.com wave product (wave 2). I’ve used it for Over five years now. It’s like a refrigerator that looks like a watch and sits on the inside of your wrist. You could set up one of the buttons for their night mode . Hit the button twice and It Produces cold waves at measured times during the night and prevents hot flashes and night sweats. They used to bug me, before I got this device . When you start to feel a hot flash coming on, you hit another one of the buttons twice and it sends cold chills through your arms and it reduces the intensity, shortens the life and can stop the hot flashes if hit quickly enough.

If you get one, I can give you instructions to how to configure it optimally just post something in here.

I use a portable, hand-held fan. I am mostly bald, so it works quickly to fan my head and neck. I also shed clothing layers. My GU oncologist prescribed medroxyPROGESTERone for hot flashes and sleep disruption. I haven't started that yet, but am considering trying it.

I forgot to mention one other drug that seems to work quite well to suppress hot flashes.

Oxybutynin

Patients could be on abiraterone acetate (Zytiga) but not other newer androgen receptor pathway inhibitors -- enzalutamide (Xtandi), apalutamide (Erleada), and darolutamide (Nubeqa) -- that are CYP3A4 metabolized and may affect oxybutynin serum.

Megace sounds like an interesting choice. I had depo-provera Shots every 3 months and it really helped reduce my hot flashes.

Others have mentioned Oxybutynin Which doesn’t seem to have as serious possible side effects as Megace

Megace seems to have some side effect issues.

Megace (megestrol acetate) is an effective treatment for hot flashes caused by hormone suppression therapy in prostate cancer patients, with studies showing an up to 85% reduction in frequency. It is a progestin often used at low doses (e.g., 20 mg/day) to manage these symptoms. Common side effects of Megace include increased appetite, weight gain, high blood pressure, and increased risk of blood clots.

Hot flashes are nothing compared to the sweat I constantly have from the top of my head to the tips of my toes 24 hours/day. I am always damp and must sleep with no covers so that the sweat evaporates rather than wet my bedding. I keep getting fungal itches wherever I am covered enough to prevent rapid evaporation. This leaves me cold all the time as the evaporation cools me. After 6 months of no ADT it is beginning to reduce in volume of sweat.
