Residual or late term effects of chemo: loss of bone density?

Posted by asolidrock @asolidrock, Jan 17 11:52am

Had 3rd PET scan which was clear of any what they call uptakes from the scan; Psa still undetectable all of which I thank the Lord for. Discussed scaring in some areas from the cancer. My question is ; Does those areas where cancer has mastitis 2 and is now clear affect the areas by decreasing bone density.

I'm assuming you need a prescription for the infusion and the injection. Did the Fosamax work?

It definitely worked. I fell during those years more than once and didn’t have bones break. Fosamax Does make the bones harder.

Wander why my oncologist didn't mention anything like these especially with the scarring .

Not sure of the timing on everything you’re Mentioning. That redness, your wife found may be that whole reason you have a problem. Could be due to swelling after treatment for an infection. Hopefully, that resolves itself in a short amount of time.

I don’t think it would have anything to do to help with scarring. Bone strengtheners makes the bone stronger they don’t repair bones.

@asolidrock
Yes, it is a prescription drug.

To take Fosamax , you must not eat anything for 30 minutes after you take it. You also must not be laying down.. I would take it in bed in the morning and sit up real straight for a half an hour. I then had to take a Prilosec pill and wait another 30 minutes. You take it once a week.

Great to hear they figured that out. I had it in my leg one time and they scoped me and saw it. Yep, antibiotics are the cure.
