I had a spinal fusion in 2004, L5-S1. Good for years u til about 2919 when I started having sciatica and SI joint pain on both sides. I’ve been having steroid injections usually every 6 months, but also had one SI joint injection on the right which helped but then one on the left which didn’t. So Medicare will ni5 pay for another. My SI joint pain on the left is absolutely horrible, most mornings pain is so bad can hardly walk at first. I use Voltaran, it seems to help for a short time. I also still have sciatica and pain on the side of the knee. I can walk; try to every other day 4.2-4.5 mikes at a 15.3 pace. The SI joint is ok when I walk, it’s later that’s bad, and almost at the end of my walk I feel like a knife is slicing into my lower back and I do have disc issue now L4-5. I asked my neurosurgeon who did my fusion if there was SI joint surgery, he said there is but it’s not successful. He was at Mayo. Now I read they do the surgery in Rochester and Jacksonville. I live in AZ. I’m not supposed to take Naproxen, I do at times but only marginally helps. The pain is so bad later in the day that at times I have to ease onto the couch and, and practically scream. SI joint pain is the worst, I’ve tried PT too, worthless.
