I’m so sorry to hear about your experience. I’ll be going to GI dept in Jax FL in a month and worried sick about having the same dismissed unorganized missed messaging with no answers. This is my last hope for answers. I’ve done all the research which my local GI is clueless about.
For what it’s worth , on My own I’ve learned about test that I forced my doc to do. It’s called the antiparietal cell antibody test . It’s basic blood test . I am Positive for this antibody which is an autoimmune chronic gastritis issue where body is deficient in B12 and other issues. Apparently It’s not a test a GI doctor would normally do thus why no one did it??? If you ve been dx with chronic gastritis ,anemia, low platelets as I have definitely try to get this test. This is why I’m going to Mayo bc no hematology program or gastrointestinal locally knew anything about it. I too wanted food sensitivity testing. Never got it!
Thank you for teaching me how to be prepared for the appointment.
Blessings finding the help you need and deserve… 🙏🏻🦋

I have been a patient at Mayo Jacksonville since 2006. I was going there when they had only one building and no hospital.

My wife sees gastroenterologist at Mayo. I see about 6 specialist there. I do know mine are always stating I read this and that on your chart and what Dr.? said or did.

If you are disappointed in something at Mayo Jacksonville they have a Patient Advocacy officer right there on campus. And yes I have used patient advocacy even though my experience with Mayo Jacksonville specialists is outstanding.

I do think regardless of the institution you need to have all your notes and all your questions there to ask and do not leave until you get them answered. Remember that Mayo is a teaching hospital so remember you might be seen by an intern at first just asking some basic questions but when you see the resident, and you will next, make sure he/she is aware of all your questions you had.
