In a visit with a urologist a couple of months ago he reviewed medications for an overactive bladder with me but said they would not be suitable since they affect the internal eye pressure. Thus with glaucoma they are contradicted. For some reason he did not mention Mirabegron (the chemical name for Myrbetriq). I found mirabegron in my reading that it is effective for overactive bladder and does not affect the eye pressure. I cleared it with my Geriatric doctor, the oncologist and my glaucoma specialist. Now back to the urologist for the prescription. I will see if it works. I have been keeping a bladder diary and the night time urination's are about every 2 hours at about 200 to 300 milliliters. With a bladder capacity of 400 milliliter I doubt it will have much impact on night time urination. Hopefully I am wrong. Perhaps it will solve the stress leakage when I attempt to delay urination.

@overage
I used to get urges multiple times during the night And have to get up at least two times.. I now go from 11 o’clock at night to about 7:15 in the morning without peeing or feeling I need to go other than the ordinary morning desire, and I hold it. Most mornings I’ve been able to hold it for half an hour to 45 minutes until I get up around 7:15.

This didn’t happen right away when I started taking it. I take 25 mg twice a day and maybe it took at least six months before I didn’t have to get up at night at all.

I’ve noticed no side effects from Myrbetriq .

@jeffmarc Thank you for your advice. What is available here in Panama are tablets of 50mg. Perhaps splitting the tablet would work to get the twice a day routine. At $30 for 30 tablets it is certainly cheap enough.

@overage Were they going to have you take 50 mg twice a day? I wouldn’t mind doing that and I thought about doubling up my pills, but 25 mg has been working.

I thought about it because I still have a major incontinence problem and I thought it might help with that.

@jeffmarc No only 50 mg per day. My Oncologist recommended that dosage. I may cut the tablets in 2 to take them twice a day. I too, am hoping for a solution to my light incontinence problem. I had to resume wearing a pad when out on errands.
