Residual or late term effects of chemo: loss of bone density?
Had 3rd PET scan which was clear of any what they call uptakes from the scan; Psa still undetectable all of which I thank the Lord for. Discussed scaring in some areas from the cancer. My question is ; Does those areas where cancer has mastitis 2 and is now clear affect the areas by decreasing bone density.

Metastasis decreased bone density when there for a while. Once its been removed, there shouldn’t be any further bone density deterioration unless you’re on ADT.

2 ReactionsI'm on Nubeqa and eligard.
The reason I asked I walked 5 miles and when I got done and set down felt like I was sitting on something . It hurts whenever i sit down terribly.
@asolidrock
Is where it hurts exactly where they removed the metastasis?
Does that spot hurt all the time when you sit, or only when you take those long walks?
Is it possible this is due to arthritis in a hip joint?
You don’t mention where they zapped the metastasis, Or if you had one zapped. Pain from bone cancer is pretty continuous, I’ve asked my oncologist about this when I thought I had a spot that might be a problem. She has told me that if you have a metastasis that’s hurting it doesn’t stop.
Not having a good description of exactly where the pain is makes it difficult to try and help.

Eligard is ADT.
Yes im.familiar with that but didn't know it affected bone density; thanks for the info. What would be good to take for bone density.
I've taken long walks before and this is the first time this has happened. I think the oncologist showed scaring on left pelvic bone from the mestatis. The pain is between my cheeks at the end; my wife said it looks red there it also feels swollen. Well jeffmarc I hope this helps. Im gonna try to see a Dr hopefully get an xray. Heating pad seemed to help
@asolidrock
Fosamax is a bone destiny strengthener I took once a week for six years.
I am now getting Zometa infusions every three months.
The other choice is Denosumab injection (brand names Prolia for osteoporosis, Xgeva for cancer related bone issues
I'm assuming you need a prescription for the infusion and the injection. Did the Fosamax work?
Wander why my oncologist didn't mention anything like these especially with the scarring .
