Glute/hip muscular and joint pain
I am 6 months post treatment (chemo and radiation) for anal cancer. For the past 6 weeks or so I have had intense glute and hip muscular and joint pain and stiffness. It makes walking slow and painful. I've been doing gentle stretching as one would for disc/periformis troubles and that helps somewhat, but hasn't left to significant improvement. I've read this can be a long term symptom of pelvic radiation/chemo and that it can be worse in cold/rainy weather. If you've experienced this, how have you dealt with it? It is depressing, because I expected to be much more active by this point in my recovery.

Have you tried Hot fomentation ,like an ordinary hot water bag. That is what helped me.For two days I was given morphine tablets as the pain was very severe. I didn’t continue as I was scared of getting addicted to it.I started taking Ibuprofen 400 mgs twice a day. I started exercising and gradually stoped the tablets. The pain relief helped me to exercise more regularly and focus on meditation too.Did you check with your doctor and get the bone involvement ruled out.During reviews my doctor used to verify that area for any tenderness. Please check with them before it is too late

2 ReactionsI had that too. I’m sorry I cannot offer any advice. Mine as well was painful and also my ischial bone hurts. My hip pain subsided at around 7 months, but the ischial bone still has sporadic pain.
