TROCHANTERIC BURSITIS and Gluteal Tendonosis

I have had Chronic Hip pain since 2009. I am being treated at Veterans hospital for this. I have had multiple therapies, cortisoid injections and been through the gamma of NSAIDS for years.

Recenlty a VA doctor sent me to have an MRI of my right hip. It revealed that I have severe TROCHANTERIC BURSITIS and Gluteal Tendonosis. I can hardly walk without having to sit and take a rest. This has caused me lack of sleep and has worsened my depression. I have asked multiple times to allow me to see a private doctor and have been denied. A VA Orthodepic Specialist revied the MRI and told me that I needed more therapy because there was no surgery for this ailment

I am at my wits end, what can I do ease this pain for awhile?

Maybe trigger point injection, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't help.

Ask for prescription Celebrex. That should help that inflammation considerably. Good luck! Irene5

Hello!
If you can go outside the VA system to see a physiatrist (physical medicine doctor) who will give you shock therapy such as EPAT (Extra Corporeal Pulse Activation Technology) and a physical therapist (PTx) who will direct you to assiduously practice specific exercises to strengthen your gluts, do it.
I suffered for 14 months, unable to walk because of pain, but after two sets (of three sessions each) of EPAT and months of diligently doing specific glut exercises, I'm now hiking in the hills near my house - what a reprieve!
I don't think you can do this alone. You need help, but if the VA won't give it to you, you've got to search elsewhere. Good luck!
