I was once hesitant about McCormick because there are so many hucksters in this field and they like to call themselves 'Dr' in a way that seems purposefully misleading. Like those with a PhD, not a medical degree. Like physical therapists who have completed a program to receive a 'doctorate' in PT but it is NOT a medical degree. The one I like the best is the 'Dr' who specializes (and likely has a nice business income) in osteoporosis yet has a PhD in anthropology.

I believe it is common for chiropractors to be called 'Dr.' because of the similarities in training between med school and chiropracty school. To his credit, McCormick makes sure no one is ever confused about his training and experience.

I became re-assured about his capabilities because of his motivation, which was to deal with his own osteoporosis DX (and as a very competitive athlete.) He has the necessary science background but it is his work product that him most impressive. Everything is abundantly annotated. He acknowledges and discusses whenever he is reading between the lines of what is considered adequate evidence.

Great Bones should be a reference book on the shelf of every medical doctor who purports to treat osteroporosis. Might be a tad technical at time for us non-science folks but he is my go-to practical expert in this field.
