I’ve been reading about IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and my/your symptoms are the same. I’m not a Dr or medical professional, but I see similarities. I experience discomfort and sometimes pain when I poop. I guess it’s the new me after the Whipple.

My wife had stage 2b pancreatic cancer and had Whipple surgery mid-December 2023. Very early on after surgery she started getting a pain in her lower abdomen that would move north. It resulted in severe vomiting. This has continued and occurs now two to five times a week. We have tried to identify a correlation with her eating, meds, etc., but have not gotten there. The only thing I can think of is scar tissue. We have become very careful about her lifting things like a large fry pan and heavier items. That can trigger the pain. Seems to me that anything that puts stress on her core provokes the pain. Again, scar tissue may be the culprit.

I completed eight months of chemo and thirty radiation treatments across my midriff in early November 2024. I did very well during all those treatments. The discomfort, then some pain began in late December. My latest C scan in mid December showed nothing new and I continue in remission. I find the discomfort and pain have more to do with when I eat, the amount I eat, and what I eat…just as my Drs and nutritionist have told me would happen. If I keep a routine of small, well chewed meals of bland foods, the pain in my lower bowel is less.
