@cek
Along with polyneuropathy, I have decades of plantar fasciitis. The wide toe box and ankle support have been critical to being able to walk—even short distances. SAS were excellent except the toes.

@dckuke Just looked at SAS ~ dang they're expensive! I appreciate te suggestions.

SAS are expensive, but I had suffers for decades with plantar fasciitis, and with good orthotics they worked well— strong but allowed feet/ankles to move. Now my new shoes are free with Medicare—list at $1500. I would pay that much if needed to get exactly what my polyneuropathy needs. Hope you find something that works—I did not.

@3oakley2 Thanks for your response. It seems like a daunting task to try and figure out all those parameters. I've been wearing Orthofeet sneakers for a while, but lately I tend to feel very unstable on them. Almost like My feet are connected to my ankles with a swivel joint! LOL. Of course it might just be my neuropathy doing its dirty work. I will definitely look into Hokas. Would I be correct in saying that you wear Hokas? If so, how did you determine all those parameters for you?

@heisenberg34 I have worn Hokas for at least five years now, the Bondi 8 to be specific, Hokas were my podiatrist's first recommendation, and after randomly asking nurses what they wore, I bought them and haven't looked back. If budget is an issue, Poshmark and the like always have barely worn or like new pairs for generally half price, people always buy shoes, wear them once, don't like them and don't bother to return them. They are heaven on soles, the only getting used to is how "planted" you are, it's a big shoe and you have to be conscious of that in bumping into things. But I swear by them, do look into them.

@jordhol Thanks. I actually just bought a pair of Hokas. They are on back order so I won’t be getting them for a while. Looking forward to getting them on my footsies.

I hope you will be pleased!

@heisenberg34 I hope they help! They are big..lots of room in front for foot/toes…but at the same time they are very light. Not a heavy shoe at all. I don’t even mind getting weighed in them.🤣(much).

Barefoot Shoes are still the answer for me. They are unique with a wide toe box & thin soles which make driving easier because you sense where the pedals are vs. Hokas.
Much better walking, as well.

Hello
Does anyone experience sacral or pelvic pain which is caused by spongy feet affecting your gait and putting pressure on sacral and pelvic area?

Yes, I have well controlled diabetes. And, yes my podiatrist wrote an Rx and sent it to orthopedic clinic that first checked with Medicare then measured and took mold of my feet. They sent to a lab for fabrication
