anyone ever had pain in left upper calf?
I have been having pain in my left leg, left side, upper calf for about a month. I have been waiting for it to go away but so far it has not. I thought it started because at one point I tried a regular length calf sleeve instead of a petite length, which I had been wearing prior to that. The regular length sleeve was tight on me right about where this pain is. But after a month of not wearing those regular sleeves at all, the pain is still there. Could this be a PN issue?

It sounds more like a deep vein thrombosis. The sort of thing that sometimes arises if one is on a long air flight and does not walk or move around.
To my knowledge, the pain from PN is not that localised.
I would go and see your doc, who might prescribe blood thinners to dissipate the clot.

2 ReactionsYou ask an interesting question, arflmi33 (@arflmi33), a question that has been on my mind lately. I've large-fiber PN: no pain, but lots of balance issues. I, too, have noticed a pain – an extremely mild pain, almost "not there" – in my left calf. Until you asked your question, I've been attributing this sensation, not to my PN, but to my habit of crossing my legs, repeating placing light pressure to that spot on my calf. But now you've got me wondering. I look forward to reading the responses from others. –Ray (@ray666)

1 Reaction@v8auto Thank you, I just sent my cardiology team a message in their portal about this. I do have venous insufficiency also so a DVT could be a problem here.
I've had chronic calf pain, in both legs, for over a year. I too have a host of excuses. In the end, moving, walking, yoga, acupuncture, chiropractic care, stretching, and Tylenol, seem to have helped the calf pain calm down. It hasn't gone away, but the pain has definitely decreased.
Neuropathy is such a cruel disease. To look at me, you'd never know I have chronic pain. I often refer to my pain as "another one of Alice's mysterious aches and pains."

2 ReactionsHello @alicelynne, Welcome to Connect. Neuropathy can be a cruel disease but I definitely am going to borrow your description on how you refer to your neuropathy when talking to others 🙂. It's good to hear that you have found ways to manage the pain which is the goal for all of us that have neuropathy. I'm fortunate to only have the numbness and some tingling but none of the pain. I do have pain from other sources so I can add neuropathy as "another one of John's mysterious aches and pains".
How long have you been diagnosed or dealing with neuropathy?
Ah, @alicelynne, there's one of PN's core problems, or as Hamlet would have said, "There's the rub!" You state it well: "Neuropathy is such a cruel disease. To look at me, you'd never know I have chronic pain." Hardly a day goes by when I'd not tongue-tied trying to explain to a friend why I'm not able to do something – do something as wholeheartedly as I might like or would have done years ago: Why I'm not eager to ride the Loop-the-Loop or walk the balance beam. 🙂 Again, beautifully said, @alicelynne! Have a fine weekend. Cheers! –Ray (@ray666)
