@gerdgirl I have been taking an algae based product which I find very helpful. It's called Esophageal Guardian by Life Extension. I take two chewable tablets after the heaviest meal of the day. It forms a barrier on the surface of the stomach and keeps acid down. I got it from Walmart Online (wanted to be able to return locally). It's helping me get through the terrible rebound effect one experiences when trying to quit taking PPI's.
