Prostate cancer goes dormant, What really happens?

Posted by jeff Marchi @jeffmarc, 1 day ago

Here is an article I just received today that discusses the issue of prostate cancer going dormant, with quite a good amount of detail.

It also discusses some scary things that can bring it back.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Prostate Cancer Support Group.

I'm glad that the researchers are figuring this stuff out. I'll take a pause on celebrating with I'm cured.

Very interesting, thanks for posting.

@jeffmarc Thanks for the article. It would be helpful to know some % of dormant cells that become active as a general guideline but on the positive side, at least most of us are testing regularly to catch something that may re-occur early.

@bens1
That article is as close as we can get to information about dormant cells, for a long time. They will have to come up with some tests that can tell us the information you’re asking about.

Various cancers appear to be defeated only to resurface at distant site 10 years later. This article addresses those cases. An intact immune system is vital & we see cancers develop in immunosuppressed like AIDS, alcoholics, diseases, abing etc. Everyone should strive to maximize their immune system by limiting bad habits, diet, exercise & lower stress. Genomic tumor score could be vital even for early primary tumor removal.

Thank you for alerting me to this article. It was great to read that research into cancer stem cells is moving forward. For a while now, I have been reading about the ability of Turkey Tail mushrooms to cause the death of prostate cancer stem cells. I have felt that western modern medicine has been slow to recognize mushroom medicine's ability to work with modern medicine (surgery and radiation) to reduce the reoccurrence of various cancers (prostate, breast, colorectal and a few others). Here's an article that set me thinking along these lines:

@ededed Thanks to all for posting the articles. I do wonder about mycotoxins that show up, especially in mushrooms and a few other foods? When searching for them, I could only find the powders or extracts. I'm willing to give them a try,

@kjacko We include white button mushrooms in many of our dinners. There are other foods as well that we try to include for their cancer fighting actions such as tomatoes and broccoli.
