Anyone experience total loss of function & nerve damage post THR?

Has anyone had total loss of motion below the knee and severe nerve damage after hip replacement?

@clange921 Can you tell us a little more about yourself and the surgery?
At what point did the loss of use begin? Do you have other conditions like neuropathy or peripheral artery disease that may be contributing to the problem?

I was sent home after my surgery without movement or feeling but once anesthesia wore off, I experienced excruciating pain.
I have neuropathy post surgery and drop foot but no PAD . I wish I would have been informed prior to THR that this was a common complication.
Anyway, any advice for the frozen foot ? Literally very cold . I wear electric socks to compensate .
It’s been 18 months .

@clange921 This is NOT a common complication, in fact it would be classed as very rare. Has anyone done a nerve conduction study to identify the location of the damage?

Thanks for your response. The term “Known Complication” has been used by numerous professionals. I guess my issue there is I wish I was given that information prior to my surgery. My orthopedic Dr did say he doesn’t discuss it with pts because it’s rare. Oddly enough when I was fitted with my brace that professional stated he sees it quite frequently.
How do we know how frequent these complications occur when they don’t have to be reported to anyone?
My 2nd EMG was discontinued mid-stream because he said it
“ served no purpose “ the nerve damage below my knee was severe and the worst he’d ever seen- really bad luck .
Back to recovery conversation is there anything that you are aware of for my freezing foot or reducing the sensation of being rock hard ?
I go through 3 batteries a day as I refuse not be active even in winter 🙂

@clange921 If you have severe nerve damage, I think it might qualify as Neuropathy. We have a support group for that:
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/neuropathy/
Perhaps you can ask your question there, maybe titling your discussion "Nerve Damage and Cold foot after hip replacement"
