Any recommendations for a Multivitamin with low or no B6?

Posted by sunnyflower @sunnyflower, Nov 25, 2020

Hello. My latest two vitamin B6 lab results (24 hours without my supplement) showed my B6 is abnormally high; double what it should be! I didn't realize I've been taking 50mg. in my Max Potency Multivitamin/Mineral supplement. I need to find an equivalent WITHOUT so much B6 in it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a lot of disease in my body besides Neuropathy so need a very good all-around multi-vitamin/mineral supplement b/c I don't eat very much. Thank you so much! Sunnyflower

I have found exactly one multivitamin without B6, and would love to learn of others. It's Desert Harvest: https://desertharvest.com/products/multi-vitamin-low-acid-90-capsules. (Although you can find it on Amazon, it comes with a high delivery cost.) I've been taking it for a while, and will see what my next round of blood test shows. I have not found an objective, independent review of the product, nor any evidence one way or another that what's in the bottle is what's on the label, which is, of course, true of almost all supplements. Not a fan of anything that combines calcium and iron, since doing this lessens their absorption, but since I take those supplements independently, it doesn't matter to me. Be aware that whatever capsule material they use occasionally tears in the bottle -- usually only one or two capsules, but it does mean that it's worth looking closely for the torn capsules to discard them.

That is the only one which I have found also. Desert Harvest makes it because they deal with IC/BPS patients and we are sensitive to B6.

I have read a ton of info on this site about B 6 Pros cons and learned of the difference. Thank you for the education.
My multi vitamin has a ton of b6. I have used Shaklee for about 25 years Recently changed to Pure. Then I see its in my D+k 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am looking for a multi without any b6
I googled it 😖 first answer was the one I take
Any suggestions of a brand?

@bckgeo47 when I looked up that label it says it has 1mg b6. Not a huge amount but it does seem to have b6.

Just diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy ,tingling, a numbness in my legs at times, did a blood test,b six toxicity. Early Lyme disease,,prediabetic. looking for a multivitamin without b6.

I did not take any multi vitamin for several years because my new neurology diagnosed B6 toxicity. I recently started One a Day 64+. The Solgar vitamins I was taking were high in B6 and B12. When I stopped taking them the pins and needles became worse.

@russbride, welcome. I moved your question about a multivitamin wihtout B6 to this existing discussion, where you can connect with others and read their recommendations:

Here are links to two articles on this issue that I found informative and that had been sent to me three years ago by a Connect moderator:

Here is information from a post on Inspire:
https://www.inspire.com/m/Kathleen1314/journal/7f0d66-b-vitamin-complex-without-b6/
Bvitamin complexs without b6 are difficult to find. Here are three which I did find. One is a multivitamin, one from desert harvest aimed at IC/BPS patients to avoid bladder irritation, one that has all all B vit levels at 50% of RDA which I like the thought of doing.

Desert Harvest:
https://desertharvest.com/products/b-complex-without-b6-90-capsules
B6TSmart, I like this one because the doses are smaller:
https://understandingb6toxicity.com/products/b6t-smart-b-complex-without-b6/
ICNetwork, multivitamin with Bvitamins:
https://www.icnsales.com/bladder-smart-low-acid-multivitamin-one-time-purchase.html
Be careful with any supplement and especially with bvitamins. While most B vitamins are safe in recommended doses, excessive supplemental intake of certain types, particularly niacin (B3) and folic acid (B9), may lead to adverse health effects.

I am speaking of my experience, not a pro. I have used the P5P version of B6 as a supplement to aid metabolism. It is usually the synthetics that lead to toxicity. Both a deficiency or excess of B6 can cause polyneuropathy—that is where P5P shines.

I am able to second what @dckuke says, also from experience and not as a medical person: I have been using P5P for going on three years, with no ill effects, most encouragingly, with no measurable worsening of my PN-induced problematic balance. The P5P was first prescribed for me by my neurologist in the form of a "medicinal food" called EB-N5. I now use a modified formulation, still with P5P, called EB-M8. –Ray (@ray666)
