Dear COVID sufferers: I have Long COVID. I had so much mucus (I have a lot of allergies/sinus issues/asthma).
Since COVID, I have chronic asthma, prone to asthmatic bronchitis and pneumonia. I have to be so careful
being around anyone that is sick.
I had so much thick mucus after the 1st round of Covid. I went to 5 different doctors and nobody was able
to help. My Dermatologist cultured the thick saliva that went along with it. I too would get choked at night.
The culture came back as normal bacteria. She told me to use Listerine and keep my mouth extremely clean.
I stopped scraping the excessive saliva off my tongue so much and started using NAC (supplement) and I
irrigated my sinuses with the NeilMed Sinus Rinse (Amazon....packets included....use Distilled Water).
Guafenesin (Sp?) is a mucus thinner. It is found in regular Mucinex. This helps to thin out the mucus more and
the NAC helps your immune system and to dry up the mucus. I did not use them together. I have to be careful with NAC as it can be too drying. Drink lots of water with both. Water helps with mucus. I kept kleenexs with
me at all time. Since COVID, any upper respiratory stuff that I catch is worse.
I am sorry to say, it took 2 years for this to go away. My take on it was that COVID attacked my mucosa & salivary glands. I found lemon ginger tea helped at night. Peroxdyl (Colgate) helped as well. You swish, spit it out and rinse.
I hope this helps in some way. Praying for all of you. Blessings...

Same situation here. I have had Covid four times and had four Covid shots. I have been suffering from the mucus problem for over five years now. I use the Neilmed nasal irrigation, fexofedidine (generic Alegra Allergy), mucinex and Axelastine HCI nasal spray. I often wake up from huge globs of mucus stuck in my throat which I have to cough up. I wish I could get eight hours of sleep. My nasal passages always have mucus present. I am tired all of the time and cannot get a decent night of sleep. I have been shedding hair for five years and have brain fog. The best thing I can say is that I didn't die from Covid. I have a friend who did. I have had three primary care doctors in five years with the VA and they are as perplexed by long covid as much as we are. Best wishes to all who suffer.
