Hi there,I am a 32 year old male who had a cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) around 7 months ago and have had a host of issues since. Before I went for the surgery I had experienced intense abdominal pain (mainly upper and upper right quadrant although at times all over) and stool inconsistency for around 8 months. Before this I had experienced a few bouts of GERD and minor stomach ulcer issues which were treated with PPIs quite successfully. An endoscopy and colonoscopy cleared up anything sinister including Crohns or UC.Now in the 7 months post op, I have been back to two different gastroenterologists with bouts of persistent abdominal pain and stool inconsistency. There have been times where the pain has been so bad and dragged out that I have gone into the most horrific moments of hopelessness and depression as no supplements have really worked. The first GI put me on amitriptyline which calmed me down and made me tired but that was about it. From a supplement perspective I have tried peppermint oil, psyllium husk, L glutamine, 40-60 billion probiotics and various antispasmodics. I take PPIs intermittently but these have also stopped doing much. Peppermint oil gives me horrible acid reflux, and as for the rest, I’m not sure any of it is really helping. I would say psyllium husk maybe helps the best.My recent GI recently prescribed me mebeverine to try so I’m giving this a go now. Both GIs have said that it is definitely IBS and labeled me as such. I mean I get it but I’ve never had persistent bouts of it in my life and can only wonder if the surgery is to blame here. My last GI said it would calm down with time but the cycle of pain is so tiring it just makes one exhausted and lose hope.My question is does anyone know what else a person can do in this situation? I have tried the low FODMAP diet and this kind of works but also not entirely. Is this just one of those things a person accepts and just lives with forever or is there a light at the end of the tunnel?I have had very high stress in the last 3-4 years of my life so I also wouldn’t be surprised if this contributed. I am trying to calm my things down to get over this condition.Any advice would really help me a lot.

Did any of you many pre-op symptoms diminish after the surgery? Or are they back.
