I have been experiencing spontaneous itching, persistent enough to draw blood in the past, for several years. It mostly occurs on my hands and on my calves/feet. After trying several preparations, I found that using the roll-on version of Cortizone 10 as soon as the itching begins has been very helpful. I also try to rub, not scratch, the area with a bath cloth to prevent bruising or bleeding. I wish you the best of luck!

@melindaheim I might give the cortisone a try. It's worst at night and I can't stop scratching.
