@boojum What pathways did you got through for the expanded access. Is it just the fda? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

@advavra After many false paths, we finally found the right office by working persistently with Kaiser's Patient Care group. However, after multiple denied applications and appeals, we failed to get Kaiser to approve any care or second opinions outside of Kaiser. We also hit dead ends with Immunity Bio, which were initially responsive, but then went dark. We finally decided to self-pay for testing and review at City of Hope. They recommended an MRI-guided radiation procedure, which comes with a few scary risks, and no way to know if it would extend her life a few weeks or a few months. None of the clinicians thought it would add more than a year. Also, to pay for the $300,000+ procedure, Mom would need to leave Kaiser and apply for traditional Medicare+Supplemental insurance. Ultimately, Mom, at 93 years of age, decided to stop seeking life-extending procedures. At this point, she is non-symptomatic and living her best life. She knows that this will eventually change and is at peace with that.
