I’m hope somebody will update the latest on postherpetic neuralgia. The latest article on it that I could find was written in 2008. That article indicated the best treatment was possibly the Capasin which could put the pain off for months in some cases. The pain management Dr.’s program I am on doesn’t consider it effective. Pregablin 75mg and hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5.325 tb. three times a day along with amitriptyline 25 mg and tamsulosin 0.4 mg once a day are my medications . I got shingles’s in June which lasted six weeks. The neuralgia followed it. It is on my left trunk from backbone to sternum. I’m still in pain mostly on my last muscles and around to my sternum. My skin is so sensitive that just giggling th skin causes pain. I hate the shooting pains that attack unexpectedly. I’m hoping that someone will come up with something. Living with this stuff is nuts!
I’ll check back if someone has anything better than what I am doing so I can suggest it to the pain Dr.
Thanks

I had shingles a year ago. And about two months later, I got postherpetic neuralgia. I had shingles of the cornea and the right side of the face. I never had a rash.
I have an itch from the right side of my scalp passed my eye lid I am on gabapentin 900-1200 mg. It’s not as bad during the day as at night. I am going to ask my doctor about caspian. Thanks for the suggestion Have you tried gabapentin. I have it a year what about you?
