Flu Shot

Posted by moorethrpy @moorethrpy, 3 days ago

My neuropathy began after Covid Vaccine . I have not gotten flu shots since then but this year's flu is really bad so I am thinking I should. Honestly, I am fearful of my neuropathy worsening if I do get shot. I also have auto immune disease (very vague diagnosis since I have no symptoms; just a high ANA)..

I have had flu and covid shots every year.
But then, I don't associate my PN with shots.
If I link it to anything, it might be the Nitrofurantoin that I was on for a UTI, as the PN started around 4 months later.
However, that could just be a coincidence. My sister has it to a degree, so could be inherited athough my parents did not have it afaik.
The way I look at it, at the moment I regard my PN as just a nuisance as it has not progressed above the knee (yet) and is not painful, but covid and flu could kill you.
So I get the shots.

Thanks...yes a good point. Flu is a shot not vaccine. I have had Covid 2x but relatively mild. I won't get any boosters because there is definitely association between vaccine and neuropathy.

I too got PN from the 2nd Phizer Covid shot. I was told not to get any more flue or Covid shots. My PN has been increasing; now up from toes to my lower butt. But, nothing in my hands, arms or upper body. I’ve tried everything to lessen pain. I’m now considering opioids.

@sue4 wow..similar to my situation. who told you not to get flu shots? I would never get another covid ..I too had Phizer Vaccine and then my neuropathy started from toes to lower butt. I do not have pain but I do have severe numbness, heaviness and stiffness. Also if you touch my butt I have vibrations. Terrible. You might consider Low Dosage Naltrexone. I got presription from my neurologist. Many people take for pain. It is compounded, reasonably priced (about $40 per month. If your doc won't prescribe, you can get online. It stimulates your body's endorphins. GOod luck and let me know which doc said no on flu shots.

@moorethrpy my neurologist told me not to get flu shots because he suspected the MRNA vaccine activated my immune system too strongly & the flu shots might do the same.
I’ll ask my pain doc re LDN; is that an opioid?

@sue4 No Low Dosage Naltrexone is not an opioid. It is actually used to get people off of opiiods. Also it is a much lower dosage than the one used for opioid addiction. The Western Neuropathy Association in Auburn , CA, did a webinar on this drug. Maybe if you contact them, they can connect you to this webinar. I think it doesn't get much attention because it is not a drug big Pharma make any money from as it a compounded generic drug. Good luck. I have o side effects at all...you start on a two week very low dose and then it is a little higher..I take 3.5 mg

@moorethrpy thanks so much. You mentioned buying it over the internet. Is there a particular site you like, where the drug can be trusted to be pure?
Again, thanks, very helpful!

@sue4 I really can't recommend a website since the purity can't be varified.. google and then research but better yet, see if you can get a Doc to write the prescription. Remember it has to be filled at a compounding pharmacy. The online website I looked at was AgelessRX. They ask questions first. But again, I can't verify purity. Good luck.
