Ostomy: Adapting to life after colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy
It takes time to become comfortable with an ostomy — a surgically created opening in your abdomen that allows waste or urine to leave your body.
Many questions may run through your mind as you practice good ostomy care and live your life. It can help to talk to others who have been there. Perhaps you'd like to ask others questions like: What can I eat? What about leaks? Can I go back to work after colostomy? Can I ride a bike with an ileostomy? Will everyone figure out I've had urostomy surgery just by looking at me? What about intimacy?
Welcome ostomates. Let's talk frankly about living with an ostomy. Why not start by introducing yourself? What type of ostomy do you have? How's it going?

@pez01 I have no business asking this question...but how on earth can you afford to do this? I am so careful to get my supplies to last as long as possible because of the cost.
Sorry about the hands...you and me both. Getting old ain't for sissies. I'm 84.
I do not have medicare part B I retired from the government with Blue Cross FEP which is a great plan Although I pay dearly for it I only have to pay copays for my supplies

1 ReactionI find I get very little response after taking time to offer advice to people who are new to ostomy complications. Maybe my info isn't helpful. Had mine 8 years ago so did a lot of testing. The odd thank you would encourage me to post more. Foss

What is skintac? I have had an Ostomy for almost 4 yrs and never heard that name. Can you please send a picture of it and if it can be purchased in Canada. I too find the tips from very useful. Thank you to everyone who shares tips .
@mariar55 Yes I get it from my local small pharmacy but probably some of the Canadian suppliers would carry it. My Ostomy does and also Amazon.ca. photo from Google images.
