Degraded TBS. Anyone able to treat it successfully

Posted by soggybones @soggybones, Dec 20, 2025

I've been diagnosed with osteoporosis because I have a degraded TBS. Anyone able to improve their TBS scores? My score is 1.19. I'm thinking of trying an anabolic.

@mayblin My appointment isn't until May. My PCP wanted me on Fossamax, but it's my understanding biophosphates don't do anything for building TBS. I'm hoping for an anabolic. I'm also going for a REMS scan in February just to confirm what was found on DEXA. While I wait I'm doing my best to exercise and eat right.

@soggybones Will be curious about your REMS vs your Dexa scores. Please update us when you do it.

I tried Tylemos for 4 months. I went off cold turkey. I felt miserable and had a dull headache that started at first very mild. As time went on the headache lasted all day as well as feeling like I was in a fog. I had bad side effects with envenity and reclast. I’m done with all this osteoporosis medicine. It’s a risk if I fall or break something, but I wasn’t going to suffer for another year or two after I suffered a year on envenity.

@loplady I'll be happy to share that. It makes me so nervous to be making decisions to take powerful drugs based on only one data point. If I had fractures it would make it much easier to decide to take these meds. I suppose I may have some compression fractures that I'm just not aware of...I don't have any back pain, but I did lose 1/4 of an inch in height so maybe....

@robe1018 I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm worried about my ability to tolerate these drugs myself. I hope you at least gained some bone after all that. This disease sucks!

@kathleen1314 Did you ever just use Strontium Citrate without the use of BHRT?

@loplady
No, I have not, but many patients on Inspire have used strontium citrate without BHRT and had similar if not more remarkable results.
user, phoneBoney was fracturing and had good results with no fractures since beginning strontium citrate

@soggybones it does? Never thought this disease was that bad until my system cannot tolerate these drugs. I advise all young people to make sure they keep strong bones. Thxs. Good luck to you.

@robe1018 Yes, when I see a young woman drastically dieting to stay skinny I tell her to worry about her bones not her dress size. I hope they listen.
