Chronic pain in from osteoarthritis & stenosis
I'm 96.5 years old and in constant extreme pain. I have chronic pain in my lower back with osteoarthritis, stenosis, and degenerative disc disease. The only thing my Doctor says is to take Tylenol, which has no effect. I've asked for something stronger, but he doesn't believe in pain pills. I have been trying to find another Doctor, but so far no luck. It would be nice to be pain-free for my few final days. Any suggestions?

Oh, geez. Please find another doctor. I have all sorts of issues that cause pain. Find an OD. I have a great one in Charlotte, NC. Injections of cortisone may help. Lidocaine patches may help. SalonPas, my favorite so far. Ice will help with the inflammation. I use a heat pad with a regulator to use to increase the heat level. I love my new Lazyboy. I bought a new mattress, also. Both have helped me so much. My best to you.

3 Reactions@sue4 you have used journavax? What was your experience?
I used the initial $30 coupon for 30 pills; then, I’m using Caremark BCBS mail order for 90 pills for $250. Otherwise, it would cost $1,000 for 30 pills. I use it with Advil & Tylenol & it works for me. I hope your insurance company will work with you re price.
@sue4 Yep, 10mg gummy about an hour before bed and I sleep best Ive had since a huge back surgery six years ago. I was waking up through the night thinking about stress from taking care of my 96 yo mother and it rarely happens now. I like a couple old sit com reruns and doze off about 1AM. Good luck

1 Reaction@sue4 That's another concern I have: how much stress am I causing my son, since I live with him? He's 56, and men tend to drop de ad when under stress.
Can I get these gummies at a regular shop? I'm in Toronto, Canada, so we probably sell different items.
Maybe I could sneak some gummies across the border. I don't want to end up in jail for doing that.
@charliesophiedaisyro I find an electric blanket helps; the only trouble is, I never want to get out of bed. There's less pain when under the blanket, with two cats purring loudly beside me.

3 Reactions@bajjerfan How are things working out with the spine doctor?
I remember the happy days of skiing, our mode of travel, living about 40
miles north of Timmons On. There was never a shortage of snow. It was
cross-country, pretty flat territory up there.
Nerve damage is painful. Good luck getting your pain pump working up to par.
HAPPY Pain-Free NEW YEAR to you and your family.

I had cervical and lumbar spine surgery in late 2021. That fixed some things, but in the last couple years I have deteriorated some. There is pain along my lower back and at the top of my pelvic bone on the right side. Stenosis may still be in play. IMO there are 2 issues maybe related, maybe not. I can't walk far until it feels like I am being bent over and forced to stop walking. Nothig that's supposed to help with nerve pain has worked. I'm down to trying something called Sprint pns.

So sorry to hear about your situation. I have something quite similar, and I'm 53. I also have chronic pain and due to that, chronic exhaustion. Have you tried Tylenol Arthritis? I also think Tylenol is basically worthless, but my pain management specialist recommended it and Motrin for breakthrough pain. I pretty much always take Motrin at the same time as the Tylenol (3x daily). I am also getting PT to strengthen my muscles to keep things better in place. I get OT to help with my neuropathy. Have you had an EMG yet?
