I have had an ileostomy for about two years. I had a severe blockage due to adhesions, and also was diagnosed with Lynch syndrome, so after two partial colectomies to remove cancerous polyps, it was determined that the best treatment was total removal of my colon and rectum with APR surgery. I have had no major issues thus far but have decided to travel to France next year for about ten days. I'm concerned about ways that I can slow down my output and also if there are any options for larger bags to accomodate flow during extended walks and tours. Is it best to inform airline staff and tour companies that you have an ileostomy? there are porobably more issues that may arise so I am seeking help from others who have taken the leap to travel.

@patsyh All best with your travelling plans. I do know that the Canadian airlines give out lanyards with I believe sunflowers printed on them to passengers who have stomas of various sorts so you could enquire of a travel agent.
