Yes! My husband has a 1.4 cm papillary carcinoma. He was diagnosed at Northwestern and it is a 6 month wait for a presurgical consult in order to book the senior surgeon. We could go with a more junior surgeon but he is 72, has heart issues and I had same surgery with complications (nicked vocal cord) so we feel the best option is to wait. The plan is to do a 3 month follow up ultrasound to see if there is any growth that is concerning. Is this a smart plan or should we opt for an earlier surgery with the more junior surgeon? Thanks!

@barbaradalton if it were me I would ask the endocrinologist that I’m going to for his opinion about when the surgery should be and arecommendation for a good surgeon who knows exactly what he’s doing with thyroid cancer!!! The more information that you have the better off you will be!!!2 when you’re having surgery for thyroid cancer you need a surgeon who really does a lot of this type of surgery and knows exactly what he’s doing I don’t like the idea of a junior surgeon!!! my very best wishes to you going forward and have a very happy holiday!!!
