I would suggest taking a good book to take your mind off of things for a while. Hospital TV isn't all that good and often doesn't come in that well. Also leave your cell phone, wedding ring, watch, money and credit cards at home so they don't get stolen. Your hospital room will have a phone right by the bed for you to use. Do take a typed list of all the people you may want to call and their phone numbers. Also take several copies of a typed list of all your regular medications that you take daily and anything you react to. Often people taking care of you don't always know what you take or how much and they, for some reason don't take the time to look it up in your chart on the computer. So just hand them a copy if they don't give you one of your daily medications. If the doctor doesn't want you to have it, they will tell you that. I took care of my Mother and my Husband when they were in the hospital many times; (20 years total for both.) and everything I'm suggesting, we went through and learned from it. Also when you are finally to the point that you can order dinner, order a little extra such as an additional banana or extra crackers so you will have a snack for later. If you feel chilled ask for a heated blanket. Before you go to the hospital, pick out something to wear home that is very comfortable such as sweat pants. Don't have anyone else choose it for you. You know what you will feel best in. I still remember the time when I was in the hospital for a minor issue and my husband forgot to bring my makeup for me to put on before I left the hospital and I had to go out in public without my makeup! I was so embarrassed! I should have thought to bring my makeup with me! I knew how I'd feel without my makeup. My husband didn't.

One more thing, if you drink Gatorade bring your own. The hospital never has it.

I wish you the very best with your procedure. Just ask God for his help and you will be fine! God's always there for us. He made you and he can fix you!
I will say a prayer for you also.

@pml excellent suggestions! I hope I don’t need to use them, but I am going to copy and keep them just in case!
