Hello there, my wife was diagnosed earlier this year with TNBC and was initially treated with chemotherapy/ immunotherapy. The treatment was working and she quickly saw a reduction in size of the tumor to the left breast. A few months later, life was really stressful and coincidentally, a follow-up scan showed the tumor grew. She was referred to a surgeon and had her breast and some lymph nodes removed. The tumor was sent for analysis and the lymph nodes were confirmed positive for cancer. She had further scans including a bone scan which showed only a very small spot in one of the lymph nodes. We then met with the oncologist who didn’t give us much hope but we had a PET scan done. The PET scan showed several spots including two spots on the ribs that are most likely cancerous. We have been told already that the most commonly used immunotherapy pembro isn’t working and suggested there is a 1/3 chance Capecitebine will work. Her CPS score is about 10. We have decided to take control and make dietary changes and lifestyle changes that will help. Does anyone who has been through this have any advice for us? Does anyone have any experience with off-label medications? She is 41 years old and otherwise healthy. Thank you in advance.

@crosschek geez, I am sorry about this diagnosis. TNBC can be difficult due to a lack of druggable targets. It sounds like your doctor has been really good about gathering the needed information.
Your wife is young, and it is especially hard to think about cancer when you are young. I was in my 30’s and it definitely leads to different decisions, and a willingness to go further to treat the cancer.
I know that I read a ton of abstracts about research for TNBC, because that is considered one of the biggest needs.
Is your wife being treated at a cancer center or teaching hospital? Any possibility of clinical trials?

@crosschek
Did they try Keytruda?

@crosschek did she have Adriamycin? That was the only chemo that seemed to shrink my TNBC and last pathology was negative for it.
