Good morning, @alxlo1. Having a Stem cell transplant using your own cells (ASCT) or an allogenic bone marrow transplant using donor cells is a determination made by a transplant doctor/team. For some patients these procedures may not be appropriate for them or their type of cancer. There are several factors the doctors have to consider before recommending this procedure to achieve the best outcome for the patient.
At some point during your treatment, usually the oncologist/hematologist will discuss post treatment options. For select patients a transplant may be appropriate, for others there may be a maintenance treatment plan suggested, or no further treatment is necessary. Each person has a unique story.
Has your doctor discussed post treatment options for you?
