Vick’s Vapor Rub for Neuropathy Pain
Has anyone tried rubbing Vick’s Vapor Rub on their legs or arms for neuropathic pain? I wonder if it would feel cool on the skin with the burning pain. It would certainly help soften the feet.

Have had good results with an application of Voltaren gel, letting it set then a layer of Aspercreme (lidocaine 4%).
Be sure to massage each in well.
Also benefit from pre-bedtime massage: percussion masseger, roller or just manual while I'm applying the above topicals.
@ps6288 omg I tried those while getting chemo and I could not leave them on for the 20 minutes. How on earth do you leave them on overnight? Mine come with the gel packs you put in the freezer but they were just too cold. I use an ice bag I got and fill with ice and then hold it in my hand and place on top of feet.

Can you let me know what the brand is called? I have shoved ice packs in very large socks just to try and get to sleep coupled with xanax. Built-in ice packs socks would be much easier. I did hear though that icing your feet fit more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time could cause further nerve damage because it compromises the remaining nerves, but if you can fall asleep in 15 minutes when the ice wears off then I think its worth it.

I go to sleep with frozen wine coolers over my socks which allows me to get to sleep. I might be causing further nerve damage, but it is worth it to me.
@dantean For me, drinking the wine is far more effective for extending my sleep !

2 ReactionsI use Mentholatum original ointment from Walmart. It works 75% of the time its the same as Vicks Vapo Rub. It depends on the day sometimes it works great other times not so well, but I also have Theraworx Nerve relief foam and Salonpas with Lidocaine. Sometimes its trial and error. I have Lumbar Stenosis and it causes my neuropathy in my feet.
