I shared this little book with my group on aging, and I would like to share it here too. It isn't often that a book moves me to tears, but this poem did just that.

The book is on Amazon, and I found it as a member of kindle unlimited. It is a poem about loss, but the result of which can be new growth. It is beautifully, and poignantly written, and I highly recommend it.

The title is "The Leaf That Was Afraid to Fall", by DB Stryker. Enjoy!

I'll share a book I just finished reading.
An extra special one of that.
I was recommended author Suleika Jaouad.
Most likely, some people are aware of her.
I was overcome with much emotion reading chapter.
The name of the book is Between Two Kingdoms.
I'm onto the Alchemy of Life by SJ.

The Finest Christmas Gifts: Virginia Katherine Oliver

"The very finest Christmas gifts are not found below the tree,
They are never tied with ribbons, nor are they something one can see..

Yet among the lights so bright and presents wrapped and gay,
They are the finest gifts of all for everyone's Christmas day,

It's the sense of love and peace that shines in people's hearts,
It's the goo will of the season in which each may have a part."

"Oh, what a happy child am I although I cannot see,
I have resolved that in this world contented I will be"
"How many blessings I enjoy that other people don't,"
"So weep or sigh because I'm blind,"
"I cannot nor I won't!"

This poem was written by Fanny Crosby at 8 years of age. I have this in my Bible. She wrote over 8,000 hymns in her lifetime and many of them are in your church hymnal. Hymns such as "Blessed Assurance" and "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior". Her failed eyesight was due to a doctor giving her the wrong medication in her eyes as a child. No bitterness in her heart about this. This is such an encouragement to my heart and I hope it is to yours.

"Snowflakes dance, the lights glow bright,
Santa's sleigh is in our sight!
Stockings hung and trees adorned,
Joy and laughter Christmas-born
Magic's here. let's sing along"
