I both agree and disagree with gathering as much information as possible. Knowledge helps one frame the whole picture and often, one can recognize poor info. My Oncologist keeps me waiting 1 1/2 hrs. as she is incredibly busy and limits the amount of time with each visit to 15 min., so I am scrambling to get my questions in and understand the current picture. It helps to use their wording (of which I pick up when researching). I try to keep my research to valid sources i.e. Mayo Clinic. My family dr. will only allow one question. So......it might be different in other countries, but in Canada (where most healthcare is free, there is a major backlog. I have also made recommendations to my doctors and actually saved my life, so........................

@ricki8 I completely agree that being well informed from valid sources like Mayo can be incredibly helpful. To me, knowledge learned from medical resources is a great tool for a patient to self advocate for the best care possible. I believe it is a large part to why I am still alive after my stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis in 8/22. Good for you.
