Any feedback on Lyrica for PN would be appreciated

Posted by mayaduggal @mayaduggal, Dec 15, 2024

Had double lumbar fusion 3 years back. Resulting in PN in both my feet. Any suggestions regarding Lyrica or gabapentine

When you start the Lyrica/PreGabali you can drop the GabaPentin. IMO there is no need to take both.

Thanks. So I don’t have to taper off the Gabapentin? Just go right to the Lyrica?

@heisenberg34

That's the way I did it, went straight from GabaPentin to Lyrica.

@bajjerfan Thanks. Really appreciate it. Have a pain free day.

Say no to both. Gabapentin has been shown to contribute to mental problems. (Read that on this forum.) And it makes me slightly dizzy all the time. I stopped it after 4 months. Glad I did.
Lyrica also makes me slightly dizzy. Of all these common drugs that doctors prescribe, none of them help any better than 10% reduction in PN. The only one that doesn't make me slightly dizzy is Cymbalta. Stopped that after a few years because it just does not do much. Strangely I would feel better the day AFTER I took one capsule.

Thanks for letting me know. I too have little faith in these medications.
I get help from Physical Therapy and acupuncture.
