Personally, I would call the billing departmen and ask to speak to a manager and ask if some of the charges can be reduced. Explain your situation. If possible for you, a lot of places will set up a low monthly payment. You have to be assertive.

Also, they like us, are not perfect and make mistakes on the coding and you get charged extra. The doctor/surgeon could also have made a mistake in the billing code. Do you have an advocate that can look at your bills with you and assist you? If you have medical insurance, the insurance company, a lot of times will talk to the doctor/hospital that is charging you and see if mistakes have been made. If not, often times they may be gracious and give you a reduction in charges.

Thanks ya it's my son he has no insurance and got turned down for Medicaid and can't work . He broke his right legg in multiple places he's got 6 weeks left. I've been trying to find a charity some will help but not with medical bills it's 90,000 which is ridiculous. Thanks prayers help bless you

That is too bad about your son's situation! I hope he's OK. Have you asked the hospital if they have financial assistance plans available? I live in Washington State and have found 2 major hospitals that offer financial assistance. You have to apply for it and I think it depends on your income level if you are eligible but it might be worth a try. Also what Covid Stinks said is very good. Check into that also.
Have you tried asking for any help from churches? The Mormon Church gives out actual checks to those in need. I know because I'm a Mormon. Or, they may actually pay the bill directly.
Also ask God for help and direction and healing for your son. God's always there for us. My husband died in 2024 and God has been there for me every time I asked for his help. I will say a prayer for you and your son.

check OVER your bill. for double or not given treatments Billing depts make mistakes I got charged for an MRI and a doctor to read it I was to have this MRI but cancelled it a week B 4 as I had it done at Mayo. Felt I would open a spot for somebody else

I took a trip to Poland and Ukraine , yes that country is open During the time I was to have the 1st MRI scheduled well I got a bill from Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee Wi Called their billing dept and they were insistent it was me. I was just as insistent as I told them they must have a really good machine as I was not even in this country for that procedure. They were insistent I said I can send them a copy of my passport which has the stamps & dates of the countries I was in. Finally they backed down But never said we are sorry

SO a month later they sent me bill for a doctor appt I did 3 months B 4 this suppose MRI Sent them a copy of the cancelled check Never got a sorry for that mistake either And they tried to charge me for drugs I was never admitted into this hospital or in their facility on the suppose date they gave me these drugs IV
Friend of mine had breast cancer and this same hospital kept double billing her She had to fight with them every month One does not need this frustration when you are fighting a bad disease
SO the end result is double check those bills
