It’s just basic chemistry…your system takes a big hit from Tymlos spiking your endocrine system…the not so basic part is everyone’s system is a little different…the nausea that some people feel is from this extra load.
My husband has a medical background although he is not or was not a md. It’s how some of these (Tymlos) anabolic work. Forteo can actually drop your calcium hypo calcium vs hyper calcium.
Hope that makes sense.
The goal is to avoid a big spike of calcium in the stomach right when Tymlos is absorbed, because that can make nausea and heart-rate side effects worse.
A simple, safe timing rule that most expert clinicians use:
Wait at least 1 hour after milk, yogurt, cheese, or ice cream
before giving yourself a Tymlos injection.
If it was a large calcium-rich meal (like a big bowl of ice cream or pizza + milk), aim for 2 hours.
How early can you move the injection?
You can take Tymlos any time of day, as long as:
You take it at about the same time every day, and
You’re sitting or lying down for about 10–20 minutes afterward (in case of dizziness)
A lot of people successfully move to 6:30–7:00 pm instead of 8 pm
or right after dinner if dinner isn’t very high in calcium which can help:
side effects happen before bed, not during the night
less nausea while trying to sleep
Quick examples:
A glass of milk 1 hour later
A small portion of cheese 1 hour later
Big ice cream dessert 1.5–2 hours later
Small snacks like fruit or crackers don’t matter — those are totally fine right before the injection.

Wow! Thank you for all the valuable information. You have been more helpful than my doctor's office!! So far, I am two half doses in and will ramp up in a few days to a full dose.
